Poetry, Poets: Poodle Poetry Generator

Poodle Poetry Creator

"But the poor dog, in life the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend,
Whose honest heart is still his master's own,
Who labours, fights, lives, breathes for him alone."
Lord Byron

Have you ever sat in the quiet of candlelight watching your Poodle sleeping contented by the fire, or gazed lovingly at them resting in your arms and wish that you could capture the flavour of that special moment in a few lines of Poetry?

Have you ever said to yourself to yourself: "If only I could think of the first line . . ."

Well, FIFI has developed a little device that just may help.

Pressing the "create" button below will produce a line of poetry for you, which you can then continue, building on the imagery and sensibility of the words generated.

This exercise is based on the notion of Labyrinthine Correlation and Indiscriminate Connectivity as a tool for creativity. The idea is to trick your mind out of its lateral thinking by presenting it with an element of surprise, forcing it to form new connections and associations.

As with all Poetry it is not the words alone which are important, it is their juxtapositioning and the images that they evoke which are the most important. So savour each image that the "Creator" serves up to you, mull upon it for a while, have some wine, or lapsang souchong, or whatever helps you to relax, stroke your poodle harmonise with his/her breathing. But mostly let the words wash over you in ever cascading rhythms.

Tips to consider before you proceed:

Work with whatever you get the first time!

Let yourself mull over the line for a bit, jot down your thoughts and reactions without analysing them too closely.

Don't punctuate the line if it sounds better to let it spill over to the next line.

If the line makes little sense to you, but a single word, or phrase contained therein touches your thoughts. Discard the line and build around that which you feel most attachment to.

When you start writing this poem to your Poodle, try to write quickly for half an hour, and don't stop to weed out the excess until you've got a substantial amount of material.

Fine-tune your poem after leaving it alone for at least a day. Read it aloud and try it out on others. Hang it on your bedpost. Recite it in your dreams. Finally! Read it aloud over and over to your Poodle, They are guaranteed to pick up on the emotions contained within its form. Kind words and loving sentiments help re - enforce the bonds of friendship and trust which bind you both together.

Have fun ! Don't be afraid to express exactly how you feel. The depth of these emotions and sentiments may come as a surprise to you. But remember that your Poodle has long ago learned to recognise these feelings within you, and loves you for them.
